ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

The westbound lanes of Highway 152/10th Street between Camino Arroyo and Highway 101 remain closed nearly 12 hours after a semi-truck caught fire in the area on Aug. 25.

According to Gilroy Police, there were no injuries in the fire that occurred at 1am.

The Gilroy Firefighters Association IAFF L-2805 posted on Facebook that the truck was carrying a thousand gallons of cooking oil. The fire was contained in three hours.

At 11:50am, police said the roadway will be closed for several more hours as Caltrans continues cleanup. The roadway may also need to be repaved, according to police.
