Three people were arrested and more than $300,000 in marijuana was confiscated after Morgan Hill police and the United Narcotics Enforcement Team searched a property on San Bruno Avenue in unincorporated Morgan Hill last month.
Danny Yuk Kwong, 58, of Morgan Hill and Francisco Gopar, 51, and Antonia Gopar Quiroz, 37, both of Gilroy, were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy.
Morgan Hill police Cpl. Ray Ramos and UNET officers served a search warrant at a residence and greenhouse at 355 San Bruno Ave., north of the city in Coyote Valley. The search warrant was developed from information Morgan Hill officers gathered through investigation as a result of a car stop in Morgan Hill, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing, who added UNET asked them not to release the time and date of the bust to protect the informant who alerted them to the grow.
During the search, officers confiscated 2,640 marijuana plants, 180 pounds of dried marijuana pounds and 12 pounds of processed marijuana, for a total estimated street value of $366,000.
Gopar was in possession of $15,000 in cash at the time of the search, Swing said, and officers seized a total of $40,000 in cash.
Information about the drug bust is just now being released due to the nature of the investigation, said Swing.
