Christopher Soto, 34 of Gilroy, was arrested by a multi-jurisdictional task force for illegally making contact with a minor child during a compliance sweep of registered sex offenders, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

A registered sex offender was arrested Dec. 13 in Gilroy for illegally making contact with a minor during a compliance sweep conducted by a multi-jurisdictional task force, according to a press release from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher Soto, 34 of Gilroy, was the sole arrest during the sex offender registration law compliance sweep across the cities of Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Martin and the surrounding areas of unincorporated Santa Clara County, reads the release.
The Gilroy Police Department, Morgan Hill Police Department, Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, San Jose Parole Department and U.S. Marshall Service recently visited the homes of 33 registered sex offenders.
“The SAFE Task Force regularly conducts focused sex offender sweeps throughout the county to make sure registered sex offenders are complying,” said Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup with the Sheriff’s Office, adding that the task force receives funding through the California Emergency Management Agency.
