Possession of marijuana

Clinton Paul Leach, 22, of San Jose, 1:54 a.m. Sunday, near Monterey Road and Farrell Avenue for failure to stop at a red light and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Vandalism

Ibraheem Ghassen El-Bakri, 22, of San Jose, 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Santa Clara County Department of Health Services on Highland Avenue in San Martin for using a broad tip marker to vandalize a business sign.

Under the influence of a controlled substance

Michelle Gutierez, 32, of San Jose, 11:30 a.m. Jan. 27, near Monterey Highway and Old Gilroy Road at the Gilroy Caltrain station.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Burglary

A $400 blue and chrome paintball gun and $1,300 worth of other miscellaneous items were stolen from a trailer and storage shed, between 12 and 9 a.m. Saturday, on the 1900 block of Gwinn Avenue in San Martin.

Residential burglary

Three nail guns, a power washer, an air compressor and a saw, total worth of $770, were stolen from a tool shed on the 16000 block of Oak Glen in Morgan Hill, between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. The thieves also entered a house on the property through a broken window and left all the doors open, though nothing was taken from the house. Bolt cutters were used to cut the lock on the tool shed.

A $200 Mossberg shotgun was stolen from a residence on the 9500 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard, between 12 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday.

A $2,500 Sharp 52-inch flat screen television and other items were stolen from a residence on the 8400 block of Pharmer Road, between 7:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday. The garage door to the home had been forced open.

Gardening and landscaping equipment were stolen from a garage on the 8500 block of Burchell Road, between 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The back door to the garage had been kicked open.

Six hundred dollars was stolen from a cottage and a piece of construction equipment was stolen from the adjoining shed on the 6700 block of Croy Road in Morgan Hill, between 4 p.m. Jan. 12 and 11 p.m. Jan. 26.

Cruelty to animals

Vehicle theft

A 1975 yellow John Deere tractor was stolen near De Bruin Drive and Santa Teresa Boulevard in San Martin, between 1 p.m. Jan. 21 and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Grand theft

A Santa Cruz man used a bad check to purchase three chain saws from A1 Saw and Lawnmower on Brubank Drive in San Martin, between 12 p.m. Jan. 20 and 12 p.m. Jan. 23.

Miscellaneous items worth nearly $4,000 were stolen from an unlocked 1999 white Ford van on the 10600 block of La Corte Lane, between 11 p.m. Jan. 28 and 8 a.m. Thursday.

Miscellaneous items worth $865 were stolen from several unlocked vehicles on the 12000 block of Turlock Avenue in San Martin, between 11 p.m. Jan. 28 and 7 a.m. Thursday.

Unattended death

A man found a woman unresponsive in her bedroom on the 14600 block of Foothill Avenue in San Martin, 9 p.m. Jan. 28.

Petty theft

The rear license plate of a 1986 gold Mercedes was stolen on the 13100 block of Depot Street in San Martin, between 6 p.m. Jan. 27 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

Nearly $300 was withdrawn from a San Martin man’s bank account without his authorization, between 12 a.m. Dec. 15 and 12 a.m. Dec. 19.

Theft by credit card

A Gilroy woman’s credit card was used to make unauthorized purchases of more than $1,000, between 12 p.m. Jan. 20 and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
