A woman who lives on the 10000 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard
received about 480 annoying or harassing phone calls from an
unknown person with a blocked phone number during the last two
years.
Sheriff’s arrests

Driving with a suspended license

Lorenzo Ortiz, 50, of Gilroy, 4:53 a.m. Tuesday, near El Matador Drive and Hecker Pass Highway for driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.

Illegal possession of a hypodermic needle

Shawn Flores Lopez, 36, of Gilroy, 2:22 p.m. Sunday, near Maple and Seventh streets.

Resisting or delaying a peace officer

Richard Javier Medina, 18, of Morgan Hill, 1:19 p.m. Saturday, near Monterey Road and Dunne Avenue in Morgan Hill after he refused to leave the scene of an investigation after being advised to do so several times. Deputies then wrestled to the ground and arrested him for delaying and obstructing a peace officer when he tried to flee.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Vehicle burglary

A black leather purse worth $60 and several other items were stolen from a black 2006 Nissan XTerra on the 1000 block of Malo Court, between 3:30 and 4:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A white 1990 Honda Accord stolen out of San Jose was found near Willow Springs Road and Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill, 2:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Grand theft

A Gilroy man’s two cows, each worth about $2,500, either wandered off or were stolen from the 4000 block of Monterey Road, between 6 p.m. Thursday and 12:38 a.m. Friday.

Vandalism

A locked mailbox was pried open on the 1900 block of Hayes Lane in San Martin, between 8:30 p.m. May 20 and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, but no mail was taken.

Residential burglary

A white Apple iBook laptop computer and an iPod were stolen from an unlocked residence on the 6000 block of Laura Lane, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 20.

A person tried to enter into a locked residence on the 7700 block of Crews Road but was scared off when the alarm sounded, 1:20 p.m. Thursday.

Burglary

Several power tools and a box of vintage comic books, worth $2,200, were stolen from three unlocked sheds on the 100 block of East Middle Avenue in San Martin, between 2 p.m. May 15 and 10 a.m. May 16.

Harassing phone calls

A woman who lives on the 10000 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard received about 480 annoying or harassing phone calls from an unknown person with a blocked phone number during the last two years.

Forgery

A Gilroy woman’s bank routing number from her South Valley National Bank checking account was used to create a $7,000 pre-authorized payment from her checking account. A second $7,000 payment was made but was returned due to insufficient funds.

Impersonation

A San Martin woman received a court notice referencing a recent traffic citation and when the woman went to the court, she discovered that her sister, a 47-year-old San Martin woman, had used her identity at the time of the citation. The sister had not yet been contacted by deputies.
