Christopher's new head coach Allison Robinson, right, and Johnna Blank, left, celebrate with pitcher Aly Olvera on their win 7-1 Wednesday against Sobrato.

Due to the threat of rain, tonight’s scheduled nonleague game between the Gilroy High and Christopher High softball teams has been canceled, both schools’ athletic directors confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

The crosstown contest was set for a 7 p.m. first pitch at Gavilan College. The option was there to have the game moved to another field with an earlier start time. However, umpires were unavailable at such short notice. A tentative make-up date of April 13 has been scheduled.

GHS coach and athletic director Julie Berggren said no other games have been called off as of 2:30 p.m.
