I thought I saw something about crosswalks or lights. Mine is on Forest and Martin streets and the reason is the poor visibility at that intersection, the amount of people trying to cross—especially at Eliot—and the increase of traffic on Forest over the last five years due to development. Thanks.
Red Phone:
Unfortunately, good caller, nothing can be done about the existing street lighting in your neighborhood—or any other Gilroy neighborhood—for a good while.
Red Phone contacted Gilroy City Traffic Engineer Henry Servin who explained Gilroy recently replaced street lamps with LED lamps, which provide more illumination than the older lamps.
However, in older neighborhoods, the city is limited to street lamps on existing wooden power poles, and there is no plan in the foreseeable future in adding more lamps.
If you would like to speak to Servin to discuss it further, he can be reached at (408) 846-0451.
