GILROY—The short-handed Cougars took their best shot against San Benito, but the Balers were too much to handle.

Christopher and Monterey went to battle Tuesday, but had to settle for the tie.

Gilroy's Adrianna Orozco Rocha was two spots away from a trip to the California Interscholastic Federation state championships. 

Christopher and San Benito took things to the mat Wednesday and the Cougars claimed a 44-30 win over their neighbors to the south. 

Four Mustangs scored in double-digits against Pajaro Valley and propelled their team to a dominant 70-34 win Wednesday at home.

Christopher and North Salinas duked it out Tuesday, but neither could gain an edge. 

GILROY—Christopher and Monte Vista Christian needed an extra quarter to decide the winner of Friday’s heated league contest. But it was the Mustangs who came out on top, handing the Cougars a heartbreaking 78-71 overtime loss at Christopher High.

Gilroy extended its undefeated over Christopher, beating its crosstown rival 3-0 Saturday at CHS. 

Last-minute free throws lifted Christopher to a 66-64 win over Monterey Wednesday at home.
