Prep Field Hockey: Cougars make early exit from CCS

SARATOGA—Before the season, Christopher wasn’t sure how things would pan out. It had lost 12 players to graduation, but had a slew of young talent eager to learn the game. The question marks quickly started to fade as the Cougars came together and picked up lopsided wins all season long, ultimately leading to their third Central Coast Section appearance in three years.

GILROY—Each week, Christopher coach Tim Pierleoni has told his team “this is the most important game in the history of Christopher High School right now, right here, tonight.” Each week, the Cougars took one more step towards clinching their second league title since the program started in 2010 and their first outright title—they were tri-champs with Monte Vista Christian and Monterey in 2012.

GILROY—There’s a new coach at the helm of the Christopher girl’s basketball program, but the philosophy of the team and its goals remain the same.

The Christopher girls water polo season came to end Saturday against Robert Louis Stevenson. 

Prep Football: Cougars claim at least a share of league title

GILROY—The Christopher football team went home Friday night and checked another item off their list: win the league title.

SALINAS—A year ago, Monica Ruelas was melancholic as she left Toro Park, having run a subpar race by her standards.

Prep Roundup: Nov. 5

Christopher sent three players to the girls tennis playoffs, all of who advanced to the semifinals. Unfortunately for the Cougars, their season ended there.
