Christopher Athletes of the Year: Purrfect Pair

Whether it was beating each other to the finish line or beating each other to the lunch line, Christopher’s Cydney Caradonna and Rayshon Mills have been in constant competition since sixth grade. Neither was content with letting the other one win. As a final accolade of their high school careers, Caradonna and Mills are both in the spotlight as the Gilroy Dispatch Athlete of the Year selections from Christopher High—and there’s no one else they’d rather share it with.

Prep Football: CHS freshman workouts begin Monday

Christopher High freshman summer workouts will get underway on June 23. Practice runs from 4-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will continue until July 31.

Lauren Castro, Alexis Conlon and Brook Loesch’s names are seen repeatedly as stat leaders for their respective teams. On May 31, the trio made it onto another list—the Monterey Bay League-Gabilan Division First Team.

Prep Volleyball: Cougars’ Salcedo earns three postseason honors

Emmanuel Salcedo was instramental for the Christopher boys volleyball team this season, leading it to back-to-back playoff berths. The senior outside hitter, who coach Karrie Gonzalez called her “MVP” after the team's last game, was recognized with three Monterey Bay All-League honors Tuesday.

Prep Baseball: Cougars’ season ends with Sequoia

ATHERTON—There was no shortage of opportunities for Christopher in its Central Coast Section quarterfinals matchup against Sequoia. The Cougars got seven runners on, five into scoring position and three stood 90 feet from home plate—but none made it home.

Prep Baseball: Fhurong helps Cougars to second round of CCS

GILROY—Everett Alvarez had the tying and winning runs standing on the corners in the top of the seventh inning. With three runs already across and only one out recorded, the fate of the season was in the hands of Christopher’s Tyler Fhurong—literally.
