Heading into the final week of the Tri-County Athletic League slate, the Gilroy High softball team needed to win at least one of its remaining games to finish at least .500 and postseason eligible. The Mustangs decided to get that victory out of the way Tuesday.

As has been the case over the past two seasons, the Gilroy High swim team entered the Tri-County Athletic League finals at Everett Alvarez High School with just a handful of varsity swimmers. Low numbers, though, haven't hindered the Mustangs in regard to individual accomplishments. That trend remained true Friday in Salinas.

Gilroy High senior track and field athletes went out as winners in their final Tri-County Athletic meet, as both the boys (89-49) and girls (71-61) Boys defeated North Salinas on Wednesday in Gilroy.
