Prep Football: Mustangs, Cougars ready for Week 4
GILROY—Gilroy’s football teams have a lot to prove this week. The Mustangs are out to show that their Week 2 win over Sobrato was no fluke. Christopher, on the other hand, wants the world to know its better than it played in its Week 2 loss to Live Oak.

When Monica Ruelas finished Wednesday’s Monterey Bay League Center Meet No. 1 race at Toro Park, there was no one else in sight. The Mustang runner finished more than a minute ahead of the second place finisher to take the top prize. Ruelas finished the race in 20:51.
Randy Couture, Aaron Pico pay Gilroy wrestlers a visit
GILROY—Every wrestler’s career begins in a room just like this one. All it took was one whiff of the unmistakable scent of the room; one step onto the mat and feeling the familiar squish beneath his bare feet and the memories came flooding back to five-time UFC champion Randy Couture.

With neither team able to seal a win in regulation, Gilroy and North Salinas headed to overtime. Four minutes into OT, Gilroy rookie Cami Rogers found the back of the net to lift Gilroy to a 1-0 win over the Vikings.

With Thursday’s match between Gilroy and Christopher tied at 3-all, it was up to the No. 3 doubles team to decide a winner.
Prep Water Polo: Cougars ease past Gilroy
GILROY—Christopher had to work to get on the board, but ultimately scored in bunches as it beat Gilroy 18-5 in the final Friday game of the Stinky Rose Tournament.

The Christopher girls golf team recorded its first win of the season, beating North Monterey County 298-312 Wednesday at home.
