GILROY — Friday was Connie Contreras’ day in the sun.

Ally Foster overcame hurdle after hurdle — literally — to finish first for Christopher. 

Christopher's Shane Suttles, Evan Shapiro and Zach Fishler have helped lead the Cougars all season, while Gilroy's Zach Loo, Josiah Wiley, Chris Chang, Travis Moulden and Hector Perez did the same for the Mustangs. All were recognized for their efforts Saturday with postseason honors.

The two best teams in CCS DII will remain so in the record books as Gilroy and Serra weren’t able to settle who was better after 100 minutes of physical and emotional soccer.

BAKERSFIELD — Nikko Villarreal and Paul Fox made a pact — they were both going to finish their high school careers as champions.

GILROY — Sobrato started to catch fire in the final two innings Thursday, but Christopher put out the flames.

Four late runs helped boost the Christopher softball team to a 7-5 win over Aptos Wednesday.

Sports have the power to transform a life. 

SAN JOSE — Gilroy’s Marc Rivera was just happy to get some playing time — but scoring the game winning goal was pretty sweet, too.

The defending Central Coast Section champs kicked off their season with a 4-0 win over Sobrato.
