Each week we recognize one area male and female athlete for their performance on the field of play. This week's are: 

GILROY—Gilroy’s Tim Van Horn had two goals for his senior year: break the high jump record and earn a scholarship. On April 15, he checked off both.

Christopher won its third straight game Tuesday and now has a winning record for the first time this season. 

GILROY—Christopher’s Esteban Fabela was easy to miss during Tuesday night’s game.

With Monday's match against Alisal tied at 3-all, the Cougars' fate rested on the shoulders of No. 4 singles players Jesus Velasquez. 

For the second straight game, Christopher knocked off the league-leading San Benito. 

GILROY—Gilroy’s Liezl Clark had been in a slump and struggling at the plate. She was off her mental game, Mustangs coach Julie Berggren said, but on Tuesday, Clark showed why she deserves her lead-off spot.

HOLLISTER—Facing a must-win situation against the team that has been the dominant baseball program in the greater South Valley area for the better part of a decade, Christopher High played one of its best games of the season.
