Christopher High’s Peter Hilkene tied for third with a 42 at the season opening Tri-County Athletic League Avalley Division golf meet at Salinas Golf and Country Club on Monday.

The Gilroy High girls varsity soccer team took the pitch Monday afternoon for a nonleague match against Palo Alto that was originally scheduled for Jan. 3. The Vikings pocketed the game-winner in the in the 77th minute to down the Mustangs, 2-1.

Gilroy has no shortage of athletes who have earned accolades and have stats to back it up.

Quarterback Jonathan Singleton threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Jaime Martinez caught 11 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns.

BELMONT—Gilroy High made its presence known amongst a crowd of more than 250 runners at Saturday’s Crystal Springs Invitational in Belmont.

It’s been a memorable season for the Christopher and San Benito girls volleyball teams. Now in their seventh year as a program, the Cougars have their best team yet under fourth-year coach Brian Calimpong. The Haybalers, meanwhile, are on the cusp of winning their first outright league title since 2007.

GILROY — The season may not have started the way Gilroy wanted it to, but Friday the team was able to end it on a high note.

SALINAS — Christopher entered Monday’s Monterey Bay League Finals with a goal to shoot 425 as a team. The Cougars did one better and shot a 424.
