Reggae in the Park
Saturday, Oct. 2, Sunday, Oct. 3
Pretty soon, it’ll be far too cold to have much fun spending the day in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park watching live music. That’s why it’s a good idea to catch the likes of Toots & the Maytals, Culture and the always eclectic Mikey Dread at the 15th edition of Reggae in the Park, benefitting human rights organization Global Exchange.
The Maytals have been around forever, churning out funky grooves from Kingston since the early 1960’s. Look for frontman Toots Hibbert to put on his usual stellar performance on Saturday, short on the usual reggae politics but long on get-down boogie. Also appearing are John Brown’s Body, Sacred Journey and Grammy-nominee Sister Carol. Plenty of good eats will be available, too.
From 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday at Golden Gate Park’s Sharon Meadow in San Francisco. Tickets are $27 on-site, $22 advance, $12 for kids 6 to 12, free for kids under 5. Call (866) 834-3060 or visit www.inhousetickets.com for details.
