GILROY – Greg Sosebee’s three-run home run paced St. Mary Men’s Club past Pray For Rain 20-18 in the Men’s E League opener Thursday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Scott Aldridge and Christian Alonzo lined a pair of extra-base hits each as St. Mary posted 14 runs in the third inning. Al Garcia drove in three Men’s Club runs with a triple and two singles. Javiert Armenta went 4-for-4 and Leo Campos added three hits and scored four Pray For Rain runs.
Frank Duran drove in four runs with a pair of triples and a sacrifice fly as Ozzie’s Oddballs topped the Titans 20-6. Johnny Perez and Andrew Perez each collected three hits for the Oddballs. Ryan Romero drilled a triple and single, while Ted Pickrel went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Titans.
Willie Wiehman went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to spark J. R. Brewski’s to a 16-1 nod over the Slammers.
Ray Berzins hit a run-scoring single and two-run triple to aid the Brew Crew cause. Andy Gutierrez tripled and scored the Slammers run.
Jeff Castro and Matt McKay each clubbed a single and double as VFW Bingo defeated the Radiator Doctor 9-2 in the Men’s EE League opener Thursday at Christmas Hill Park. Eric Wishmann, Brian Allen, Scott Larsen and Johnny Andrade each provided two hits to the Radiator offense.
Solid Ground rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to outlast South Valley Newspapers 14-13 at Las Animas Park.
Dave Steffenson launched a sacrifice fly and Nathan Mixter followed with a run-scoring single as South Valley Newspapers pushed across four runs in the sixth for a 13-11 lead. Solid Ground responded with a two-run triple by Joe Lujan in the seventh. John Fulmer’s sacrifice fly capped the comeback.
K.C. Adams homered and Ryan Brindle went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for Solid Ground. Steffenson went 3-for-3, Zeb Carabello 3-for-4 with four runs scored for the Newsmen.
HMI defeated Associated Concrete 23-6 as Victor Vidouri hit a grand slam, a triple and single. Tom Banuelos and Spencer Straub each went 5-for-5 and Shawn Cronk went 4-for-5 while scoring five HMI runs. Tim Blank went 3-for-4 for Associated Concrete.
