Dear Editor:
Last Friday, Lori Stuenkel, The Dispatch reporter who covers
education issues, asked me,
”
What message does a $192,000 superintendent salary send to
teachers?
”
My answer, which appeared in Monday’s edition, was,
”
That their work that they do in the classroom with the students
is not as valuable as the superintendent who sits in some
office.

Dear Editor:
Last Friday, Lori Stuenkel, The Dispatch reporter who covers education issues, asked me, “What message does a $192,000 superintendent salary send to teachers?” My answer, which appeared in Monday’s edition, was, “That their work that they do in the classroom with the students is not as valuable as the superintendent who sits in some office.”
I would like to make it clear, if it wasn’t already, that my comment was meant for the superintendent of Morgan Hill, not for Edwin Diaz, who is superintendent for Gilroy. The $35,000 bonus paid to Morgan Hill’s superintendent would almost pay for one teacher. Clearly, the Morgan Hill Unified School District has its priorities backwards.
