Men’s CC League play at Las Animas Park.
GILROY – The Las Animas Sweepers became the first team in the 78-team Gilroy Community Services Department adult softball program to record a second victory Monday by outlasting Guy’s Heating 22-13 in Men’s CC League play at Las Animas Park.
Emiliano Arde and Wayne Pfeffer Jr. each collected a hit in the sixth and seventh innings as the Sweepers locked up the win by scoring 10 runs in the final two frames.
Donny Gooding and Pfeffer claimed game batting honors with 4-for-5 showings for the 2-0 winners. Ruben Gonzalez drove in four Sweeper runs. Anthony Hernandez and Rodney Clor each mustered three hits for Guy’s Heating.
Krazy Koyotes-Dutchman’s Pizza topped the VFW Vets 22-11 to leave both clubs at 1-1. Anthony Morales drove in five runs with a pair of home runs for Koyotes-Dutchman. Ben Duyao went 4-for-4, Raul Toledo 4-for-5 for the winners. Chris Hernandez powered a three-run home run for the VFW Vets.
AJ’s Boys rallied past Countryside Preschool 21-20 Monday to leave all four Men’s CCC League teams at 1-1 at Christmas Hill Park.
John DeCarlo Jr. and Jesse Nunez each singled and scored in the top of the seventh to give Countryside a 20-17 cushion. AJ’s responded with four runs, including a game-tying three-run double by Matt Piedmont. Johnny Perez drove in Piedmont with a single.
Piedmont homered in a 5-for-5 night. Charlie Roe went 3-for-3 and scored three Countryside runs.
Los Gatos Capital trimmed the Desperados 18-14. Jeff Duarte went 3-for-3, Rob Paterson 3-for-4 for Los Gatos Capital. Stu Kirchick drove in theee Capital runs with a double and homer. Robert Ramirez went 3-for-3, Phil Clark and Bob Stuve each 3-for-4 for the Desperados.
Johnny Perez hit a grand slam and a three-run shot to lead Gaeta’s Taqueria to a 23-4 Co-Rec B League win over Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas 23-4 at Gavilan Sports Park.
Joel Gaeta added a three-run homer in a 4-for-4 effort for the Taqueria. Danny Benz went 2-for-3 for Dutchman’s-Kahunas.
Cherie Somavia with 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to propel Feather Haven Mill past Dee’s Nuts and Cherries. John DeCarlo Jr. scored three Mill runs. D.J. Simpson and Ernie Lopez both collected three hits for Dee’s.
