Dear Red Phone, “I’m reporting some graffiti. Somebody sprayed some gang stuff on our fence. Before I scrub it off, I want the police to document it and take a formal complaint. Thank you.”
Red Phone: Dear citizen, best idea is to snap a few pictures, document the approximate time period, call the city’s graffiti hotline – it’s a 24-hour recording line –  at (408) 846-0395. Leave the exact physical address or location with a cross street and the type of surface that has graffiti (i.e. wood fence). Email the photos to community services officer
ra**********@ci.us
and let us know how it works out.
Stray shopping carts in Walmart parking lot, continued:
Dear Red Phone, “Thank you so much for the wonderful, wonderful response in (last week’s) paper, April 5, on the shopping cart issue at Walmart. That was a wonderful response and you are spot on.”
Dear reader, thank you for your feedback. We hope dialogue from our Red Phone in the last two issues, regarding the dozens of stray shopping carts that get left out in the Walmart parking lot and others around town, will encourage people to take those extra few steps and just put their cats away. A little common courtesy can go a long way.
