DEAR EDITOR:
I have been sitting back silently and reading the opinions about the Wal-Mart Supercenter. May I first say, “shame on you” who write those letters to the editors and still shop in our store daily.
People have stated Wal-Mart pays cheap, has no benefits, and pays women less than men. People have also stated those working for Wal-Mart have no education and are on public assistance.
I am a 9-year associate of Wal-Mart. I do have an education and own my home. I am not on public assistance. I consider Wal-Mart a great company to work for. I get excellent pay, 401k, medical/ dental (for myself and spouse), paid vacations, etc. I just took a leave of absence for eight weeks while a family member had surgery. The company paid my wages and also held my job for me. All of the negative articles are not true – ask the longtime associates of Wal-Mart. All businesses have their loyal customers, so I really don’t feel it will cause businesses to close. Also, theses articles have been written by union members. I do not need to pay someone to voice my opinion or concerns to my manager. Wal-Mart managers listen to their associates.
