SAN JOSE – The most-awarded show in Broadway history, the Mel Brooks musical “The Producers,” will opens the 2004-05 season of American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
The play is based on Brooks’ 1968 film of the same name.
It’s the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant.
Together they hatch the ultimate scam: raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway flop and pocket the difference.
Their “sure-fire” theatrical fiasco? None other than the musical “Springtime for Hitler.”
The show begins July 6 and closes July 25. It shows Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m., Sundays at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 21 at 2 p.m.
The show will take place at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, 255 Almaden Blvd., in San Jose. Tickets range from $50 to $77. For tickets, call 1-888-455-SHOW or 453-7108. For more information, visit www.amtsj.org or www.producersontour.com.
