Topless Women Shouldn’t Be Arrested if Men are Allowed to be Shirtless

Dear Editor,

Ignoring for the moment all the real violations … simply being topless should not be “indecent exposure” and should not be a legal offense. Women should be allowed to be topless wherever men are able to do so.

Breasts are only breasts, and are certainly not “indecent.” California needs to join the real world, as New York has, and allow women to be topless in any situation a man can be. On the other charges – drunk/disorderly/pipes – they’re on their own. However, it sounds like they had a great time.

Animal Saviors Really Perform a Valuable Service

to Our Community

Dear Editor,

What do you do when you’re invaded by a parcel of abandoned, starving kittens? That was my situation when I awoke one morning in April to find four in my back yard.

Though I’m not a cat person I started feeding them and tried (unsuccessfully) to “tame” them so I could at least get them neutered. This invasion of kittens happened to me once before in October. I was able to tame that group of kittens, but it ended up costing me $800 to get the four of them spayed, wormed, rabies shots and flea controlled.

I then read an article in the Dispatch by Emily Alpert about Town Cats! I contacted them, and what an exceptional volunteer organization they are.

The founder, Rosi, immediately set about helping me. She sent a super guy, Chris, to set traps for my naughty kittens. He caught all four, took them to the vet’s, returned them to me the next day, and came back once again for the traps. Wow, was I ever impressed. To visit their facility in Morgan Hill is an exceptional experience.

Rosi and Town Cats depend almost entirely on donations and volunteers, so I hope every animal lover out there will consider Town Cats as a truly worthy cause to invest time and money in. You can reach them at to******@****ic.com. Thank you Rosi!

GHS Grad Safe-and-Sober Celebration a Rousing Success Thanks to Many

Dear Editor,

Gilroy High School Grad Nite 2007 was a tremendous success and a whole lot of fun for the kids that chose to participate in the all night safe-and-sober celebration. There are a few members of the community that were exceptionally generous and I would just like to say thank you and hope that families will go out and give them some extra business for being so thoughtful for our graduates.

A huge thank you to Vito Mercado at Nob Hill, Moon’s Kitchen, Togo’s First Street, Chevy’s, Walmart, Mr. Oliveri at Pinocchio’s Pizza #1, Happy Dog Pizza, Dutchman’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Straw Hat Pizza and Mama Mia’s. i would also like to thank the following families who donated desserts and goodies for the night: the Barrows, Coffins, Chavez’s, Dockendorfs, Higgins, Jeskes, Moons, Robinsons, Gomez’s, Carrillos and a special thank you to Lois for cookies (and you did not have a child graduating!

Without the love and support this night could not be possible. Thank you again.
