Salas Trucking scores two runs in top of eighth inning for 10-9

GILROY – Salas Trucking scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday to trim Westwood Barbers 10-9 in the Men’s B League opener at Christmas Hill Park.

Westwood forced an extra inning when Gino Martinez blasted a solo home run with two out in the bottom of the seventh. Salas responded with consecutive hits by Jim Gruber, Javy Galvan and Carlos Trevino to take a 10-8 lead.

Alvin Ganaden went 5-for-5, Galvan 4-for-4 for the winners. Doug Cummings went 4-for-4 and Daniel Vasquez and Gabe Ponce each went 3-for-4 for Westwood Barbers.

Seven Craig Avila Bail Bonds batters each drilled three hits to highlight a 19-7 nod over Team Talamo. Ruben Ramirez went 3-for-4 and scored four Craig Avila Bail Bonds runs. Raul Bueno went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Team Talamo, the defending league champion.

Meliassa Taku’s two-run double keyed a five-run third inning as Don’s Vending began Women’s B League play Wednesday with an 8-2 decision over Let’s Do This.

Jolene Carrasco went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Don’s Vending. Cindy Casillas and Kiangtzu Bravo each collected two hits for Let’s Do This.

Sandy Saenz gave Handmade Healthcare a 3-0 lead with a two-run single in the second inning, setting up an 8-3 victory over Williams Dental Lab.

Yvonne Gaspar plated three runs with two singles, while Mary Ellen Valdivia went 3-for-4 for Handmade. Lisa Weiby and Sandy Fortino each went 2-for-3 and scored one Williams Dental Lab run.

Tanya Reyes and Vanessa Pena each homered as Kay’s Kids Daycare defeated Eugene Marks Tractor Service 9-5 in the Women’s C League opener Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Reyes (3-for-3), Kathy Moreles and Martha Sanchez each scored two Kay’s Kids runs. Lisa Low stroked a triple and two singles for Marks Tractor.

Cheryl Baragona went 4-for-4 to pace Dutchman’s Pizza to a 17-2 win over Goldsmith Seeds. Monica Melendrez and Michelle Sulafer scored Goldsmith runs.

Laura Hagiperos crunched two home runs and three singles to lead M&M’s to a 26-13 win over Chaos.

Sally Wrye drove in five runs with a homer and single in a 13-run M&M’s rally in the top of the seventh to snap a 13-13 deadlock. Rene Rodgerrs, Sandi Liberatore and Kathy Morales each scored three Chaos runs.

Denise Chavez went 4-for-4 and drove in seven runs as the Energizers opened the season with a 32-5 victory over the Hpnotiqs. Hilda Hernandez and Nicole Shrashire each went 2-for-2, while Monica Piedmont stroked a two-run single for the Hpnotiqs.
