Two earthquakes hit the Hollister and San Juan Bautista areas shortly after 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night.
The first was a magnitude 3.8 earthquake two miles south of San Juan Bautista at 10:21 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A second earthquake struck at 10:26 p.m. It registered at magnitude 4.2.
The two quakes were centered in the same area and were also seven miles west-southwest of Hollister and 11 miles northeast of Salinas. They were at about seven miles in depth, according to USGS data.
The Hollister Fire Department did not receive any related calls shortly after the earthquakes.
