Ind., after an extended Illness.
Victoria Garcia Velador “Tia Victoria,” 69, of Gilroy passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in Elkhart, Ind., after an extended Illness.

She was born Dec. 23, 1933, on Rosanna Street in Gilroy to Trinidad and Mary Acosta. She was the wife of the late Martin Velador. Victoria had recently moved to Indiana with her son, Robert.

She has four daughters, three sons and two stepsons, Vickie (Ron) Honey of San Jose, Suzanne Garcia-Trujillo (John) of Susanville, Sylvia Garcia-Dutra (Frank) of Morgan Hill, Sandra Garcia Fortino (Gordy) of Gilroy, Adolph J. Garcia (Linda) of Parkhill, Okla., Robert J. Garcia of Elkhart, Ray B. (Bev) Garcia of Hoopa, Marty Velador, George Velador both of San Jose; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Estrada of Morgan Hill; and her brother, Guadalupe Silva (Julia) of Morgan Hill. The father of her children, Ramiro Garcia of Gilroy and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Delfina Torres, Helen Martin, Rose Ortiz and her brother Johnny Acosta.

Mrs. Velador was raised and educated in Morgan Hill and moved to Gilroy to raise her family. Victoria and her late husband were members of “The Family Linkage Foster Care” in Gilroy for over 12 years. Victoria was always willing to open her home to anyone in need. Mrs. Velador was employed at Gilroy Foods for many years and also worked at Orchard Supply Hardware in Gilroy.

Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and then proceed to St. Mary’s Church for a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery.

Family would appreciate donations to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
