Special Olympians and officers from the California Highway Patrol, Gilroy Police Department and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department escorted the Special Olympics Northern California torch through Hollister, Gilroy and Morgan Hill on Wednesday morning.
More than 500 law enforcement officers from federal, military, state, county and city agencies are participating in the run, which began June 10 in Tulare County, to promote the Special Olympics Summer Games, scheduled for June 24-26 at the University of California, Davis.
The flame is expected to travel hundreds of miles through 21 counties on its way to the summer games opening ceremonies.
