Viola “Vi” Mae Kersgard March 15, 1921 – December 4, 2013

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., at the El Dorado Community Church, 4701 Church St., El Dorado, CA. Inurnment will be Friday, January 24th, 2014, at 12:30 P.M., at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA. Contributions in Vi’s name may be made to The Independence Fund, Inc., 32379 Collection Center Dr., Chicago, Ill 60693 or www.independencefund.org. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, Placerville.

 Beloved wife of the Late Edwin Kersgard; loving mother of Patti (Richard) Perino, Vikki (Richard) Simpson and the Late Richard Kersgard; sister of Betty (Howard) Coates, Nancy (Bill) Howell and the Late Carolyn (Edward) Bartlome; devoted grandmother of Jason (Valerie) Perino, and Stephanie and Joseph Simpson and great-grandmother of Logan and Robert Perino and Jocelynn and Juan De La Cruz. Vi is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-niece and numerous friends.
 Vi was a native of Northern California, born March 15, 1921 and lived in Saratoga, Campbell, San Martin, Placerville and Diamond Springs.
 She served in the Navy as a WAVE in WWII, stationed in Indiana, New York and Mare Island in California.
 Vi was an active participant in many organizations including the Danish Lodge in San Jose, the Congregational Church in Campbell, the San Martin Horesman’s Assoc., the Live Oak High School Marching Band, the Diamond Springs Art Association, the Placerville Art Association, the Sacramento WAVE’s and the El Dorado Community Church.
