Christopher High volleyball defeated Alvarez 3-1 on Tuesday to hold its one-match lead over Monterey in the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division heading into tonight’s season finale against none other than the Toreadores.
The Cougars (18-13 overall, 10-1 MBL) will travel south for the encounter, where a victory gives them the Pacific Divsion crown. The only spoil to that plan is a Toreadores (12-18 overall, 9-2 MBL) win, which will then own a share of the title with CHS.
The two sides have seen one another twice this season and CHS has come out on top in both – a 2-0 win in tournament play and 3-1 in league action Oct. 9.
Tonight’s match is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Monterey.
Notes: In Tuesday’s victory over Alvarez, senior Hanna Tabron led the Cougars attack with 12 kills, followed by sister, sophomore Olivia Tabron, who had 11 kills. Alex Gerberick had 24 assists, while defensively, Michelle Toves had 12 digs. Tuesday also marked Senior Night and Hanna Tabron, Gerberick, Kaitlin Brummitt and Katie Wheat were recognized prior to the match. Wheat had four kills and Brummitt came up with seven digs.
