Dear Editor:

Thank you for publishing a correction for the error in your front page article Oct. 15. Voters would have been better served if your correction had also appeared on your front page, too. While the VTA’s annual deficit is greater than $1 million per year for transit operations, taxpayers and voters have something closer to the truth than what the first article said.

For truth in transportation, please have your reporter find out VTA’s true, small-business-killing, annual deficit applying Generally Accepted Account Principles to their finances. Adding capital and fixed costs under GAAP will reveal the VTA’s deficit is actually much greater than your correction said.

Multiply VTA’s wasteful deficits to the boondoggles of all California’s transit agencies, and you’ll see why our leaders have navigated us to fiscal ruin. Will our governor-elect steer us to transport sanity and privatize public transit? It is the structural reform that we need to reverse the radical socialists in the Political Transit Alliance. Caveat Viator!
