The exhibit’s oil and watercolor pieces range from $200 to $450 and are styled in Hiller’s signature soft focus, emphasizing the relationship of light and shadow.
Hiller was raised in Chicago where she pursued advanced art classes in high school, but her college years were spent largely outside the art world.
After beginning a family with her husband and moving to California in 1968, she took up her old passion again.
“I asked myself, ‘Why do I want to paint and draw?'” said Hiller. “I feel it is my job as an artist to celebrate the beauty in the world and point it out for those who are too busy to notice. There is so much that is ugly and awful in life and too little importance placed on what is beautiful in both the physical world and the human experience.”
The artist has taught privately and been involved in several local art leagues. She served as the director of Gallery Morgan Hill twice, and she is currently a member there.
