Michael Shields tallied four times while Alex Papalias and Garrett Pipkin scored one goal apiece.

The Mustangs couldn’t keep the victory train rolling on Wednesday, however, losing a 16-6 decision to league favorite Salinas.

“Salinas drives hard, they out-drove us in their offensive zone,” GHS head coach Tom Clark said.

“We changed our strategy after the first quarter to a more physical defense.”

Shields posted five gaols and three steals, Alan Lindseth had a goal and a steal and Kendrick grabbed three steals.

The GHS girls varsity water polo team notched a pair of Tri-County Athletic League victories this wee, handling Watsonville 17-10 on Monday and Salinas 13-1 on Wednesday.

The Mustangs are now 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the TCAL.

Michelle Shields and Nicole Nelsen each registered a combined eight goals in the two games. Chelsea Hill collected seven in that span. Also joining the goal parade, Angiolina Vanni (2), Francesca Comin (2) and junior varsity players Abby Kienle (2) and Corin Keller (1).
