The angels came to take Wayne to his final home with his Lord on Monday, February 26, 2007, after a year long battle with cancer.
Wayne was born November 3, 1943 in North Dakota, the son of Henry and Ida (Keller) Carlson. Wayne graduated from college with a teaching degree. He moved to California in 1964, started working at First Valley Bank in Los Gatos, and moved to Gilroy in 1971 to help form Gavilan Bank. He worked there until 1980 when he started his own real estate company. Wayne worked in real estate until 2006. Wayne was very active in his community and served on many boards, and was a member of the Lions, Rotary and Elks. Wayne loved traveling and playing golf with his sons and friends. Wayne has always been such a giving, loving person, who loved a challenge.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay, his sons and their wives, Brad and Carrie, Barry and Kathy and Bryce and Tara, his granddaughters Brenn and Maddy, sister Yvonne and husband Terry Marra, many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
A viewing will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy on Thursday, March 1st from 1P.M. to 9 P.M. A service will follow on Friday, March 2nd at the Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave. at 11 A.M.
