The newspaper’s Web poll question regarding Mayor Al Pinheiro’s performance is too vague. It would be more helpful if the poll was more specific: For example, is Mayor Pinheiro doing a good job in:
1. Managing traffic flow, diverting traffic flow to the inner core of Gilroy
2. Increasing economic growth and jobs
3. Providing adequate health and safety measures
My vote:
1. By diverting traffic to the residential streets of the inner city, he is degrading old Gilroy and destroying the neighborhood atmosphere that used to exist.
2. We do not need more restaurants, Gilroy needs high-tech business … are they getting any incentives to come here?
3. This is a concern for all of us given the growth rate. The increased density of people and the increased traffic flow means that there is an the increased need for police and fire professionals. What is going on there? The increased traffic means that the air pollution is increasing … where are the measuring stations?
