When you shake someone’s tight little worldview, they freak out. Creationists in this country that take the Bible literally, have been beaten by evolution.
There is very little doubt in the world of science that evolution does not happen. It has been observed and its effects have been scientifically assessed. So what’s the problem here? The problem is that the god of Christians, Jews, and Muslims, the Abraham God, has been at least as much as at this time is possible, proven wrong. I don’t honestly understand how you can see the 65 million year gap between dinosaurs and humans and still take Genesis literally…
Unless you argued that dinosaur records and fossils were merely created by the Antichrist to cause doubt and disbelief in God, but that would be silly. Of course, I could look at any puzzle with a missing piece and invent a piece that fits my story, but I’d rather observe, hypothesize, test and discuss with other intelligent individuals.
I mean, I could believe that the Flying Spaghetti Monster created everything that exists with his noodley appendage just because no one can prove he didn’t, but of course, that would just be silly, wouldn’t it?
