Mushroom Mardi Gras this weekend: Mushrooms are on center stage this weekend for the 33rd edition of Morgan Hill’s Mushroom Mardi Gras festival Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. The free family friendly festival at the Community and Cultural Center off Dunne Avenue and Depot Street starts at 10 a.m. both days and winds down at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorial Day Remembrance and Parade

The Gilroy Memorial Day Parade Committee along with VFW post #6309 and American Legion Post #217 will hold a Memorial Day Remembrance celebration at Gavilan Hills Cemetery, honoring our fallen but not forgotten heroes at 9 a.m. May 28. The annual Gilroy Memorial Day Parade follows at 11 a.m. It begins on Monterey Street, progresses along 10th Street and ends at Gilroy High School.The community is invited after the parade to enjoy an afternoon of activities, fun and celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park as well as the Gilroy Memorial Day Car Show, which starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Details or applications to enter your organization or business into the parade go to gilroycommunity.org or email [email protected].

Hang out at Solis Winery

Spend the three-day weekend at Solis Winery in Gilroy for their annual Syrah and Sausage celebration. It’s from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Discuss concerns with mayor over coffee

Mayor Al Pinhiero will meet and discuss issues with citizens in an informal setting over coffee at 9:30 a.m. May 26 in the Council Chambers. The mayor can answer questions and otherwise engage in specific or broad discussions on city issues with Gilroy residents. Details: 846-0491.

ZED with Mukagee, The Conceal & The FourFathers

San Jose rock band ZED last performed at 9Lives in May of 2011.  Since that time they have developed new songs and continued to add to their fan base.  They return Saturday, May 26 with Gilroy rockers Mukagee who make their 9Lives debut along with San Jose’s The Concel and The FourFathers.
