Dear Editor:

Our son died on the side of the road on the way up to Henry Coe Park on Aug. 27. We put a memorial up on the spot which included a beautiful white three-foot cross. The cross was broken off twice.

After the first time we fixed it and put it back up. It was broken off again. Then to top things off we got a visit from the Morgan Hill Police deptartment on Friday, Sept. 26 saying that there had been “numerous complaints” from people going up the hill and that we had to remove the memorial we had put up, that “Dustin’s Spot” spooked them.

I’m sorry that the cross spooked people, it should be a comfort. I will pray for these people and I ask all other believers to do the same.

This was the last place he was alive and was very special to him. It has become very special to us also and it is the place where we feel close to him. We went up there often and kept it clean so it wasn’t an eyesore. I don’t understand this, what about all the other memorials that are on the side of the road all over this county and in Morgan Hill?

Do they have to remove theirs as well? I think not!
