Win-win Solution for Community Car Wash Efforts and Clean Water
Dear Editor,
Your recent editorial regarding community groups organizing car washes to raise funds prompted me to comment on several of your statements.
My wife and I have owned and operated EZ Clean Car Wash for nearly 10 years in Gilroy. During this period of time we have provided our facility to numerous community organizations, school and church groups to use for fund-raising purposes. In addition we have promoted the car wash for the fund raisers on our reader board. I think it is important to note we have done this to show our support for local non-profit groups and also assist groups to be in compliance with environmental regulations. We take pride in operating an “environmentally friendly” business and certainly endorse city policies that support keeping our water clean.
In your editorial the suggestion of setting guidelines for groups to use eco-friendly soap and green practices about water sounds good, however oversight of implementation of these guidelines would still be a challenge. Instead I suggest community groups contact local car wash owners requesting their assistance in their fund raising activities. I believe most business owners in the industry would be helpful. Those that do not may be the ones complaining. To request the use of our car wash for fund raising activities please e-mail me at ez*********@***oo.com.
More bureaucracy is the last thing we are looking for in regards to this issue. Asking city council members and staff to spend more time and effort on this isn’t necessary. As you wrote, no elected officials would vote against community car washes. I would also venture to guess no elected official would cast a vote against clean water. Licensed, regulated, tax-paying car wash businesses can provide the win-win solution to this issue.

Muslim Center Would Allow People to Understand Islam
Dear Editor,
I am writing in support of building a Masjid and community center in San Martin area. Perhaps this will allow people to understand Islam and know Muslims.
