Dear Editor:

The Gilroy Rotary Club/Goldsmith Seeds Flower Sale 2004 turned out to be a wonderful success. We were able to raise a large amount of money that will be distributed locally in the form of scholarships and community grants.

This would not have been possible without the support of many people, none more important than the Goldsmith family and Goldsmith Seeds staff. Dozens of hours were put into organizing the event, including a heroic effort to individually price over 15,000 plants. This dedication is even more impressive when one realizes it comes on the heels of Goldsmith Seeds Annual Spring Trials, a weekly event that is very labor intensive for the company.

We also would like to thank the hundreds of loyal customers who came out in record numbers to help us with this unique fundraiser.

Your purchases will go a long way in helping with the education of today’s youth and the work of more than 20 local non-profit agencies.

We deeply appreciate the wonderful coverage of this event by The Gilroy Dispatch. If not for your focus and commitment to events like this throughout the community, we would not have been able to reach as many gardening enthusiasts as we did!

Finally, to our fellow Rotarians who worked tirelessly and enthusiastically the entire day. Your actions help define the Rotary International motto of “service about self”.

We look forward to next year with the hopes of an even better event!
