Council unanimously voted to appoint Councilman Perry Woodward to the role of Mayor Pro Tempore, as recommended by Mayor Don Gage.
Woodward said he was honored and surprised by both the nomination and the unanimous vote.Â
“I think there was a sense in the community that the last mayor and I were working across purposes, and that is not the the case now. I’m pleased to be working with the mayor and that we had the support of the entire Council,” Woodward said. “I think we are going to do some good things and make some real progress.”Â
The duties of the Mayor Pro Tempore are to fill in for the mayor when he cannot fulfill his duties for any reason. Â
“One of the things Don said he was going to try to do was be a unifier. You see that already, the fact that his selection was unanimous,” Woodward said.Â
