Dear Editor,
On behalf of my client, the California Valley Miwok Tribe, I
just wanted to say that nothing about this project deals with or
raises the issue of reparations. I only wonder if your paper would
have made such a statement relating to reparations for holocaust
victims if a group of four Jewish investors would have proposed a
larger company in this county.

The past is the past, the systematic devastation of the Native Americans in the state is an accepted fact. However, the California Valley Miwok Tribe is looking to the future.
The tribe and most Native Americans did not cause the state’s current financial situation, but, we are willing to work with the state and the people to address this matter.
The traffic and sewage problems were not caused by the tribe, but, we are willing to try to address those and other issues. All my clients ask for is to be given a chance.
