Christopher High’s Maraya Carmona and Gilroy High’s Megan Nebesnick each reached the championship quarterfinals of the girls wrestling California Interscholastic Federation state meet Saturday at Lemoore High.

Carmona reached the quarterfinals at 122 pounds, using a bye and a pin in 2 minutes, 52 seconds of Castro Valley’s Emily Courchaine to reach the quarterfinals. Carmona lost a 4-1 decision to Sierra Vista’s Marisela Fierro in the quarterfinals.

Nebesnick reached the quarterfinals at 165, pinning Central Catholic’s Monica Vierra in 1:06 and Righetti’s Christina George in 4:22 to reach the quarterfinals. Nebesnick lost a 5-3 decision to Edison’s Gabriela Guzman in the quarterfinals.

Gilroy’s Courtney Pipken (98) and Live Oak’s Isabella Fernandez (114) and Christina Perea (118) also competed.
