Gilroy-based Silicon Valley Xtreme go 1-1
The Gilroy-based Silicon Valley Xtreme began pool play in the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament Sunday with a 10-7 victory over the Dublin Green Sox from Dublin, Ohio. The Xtreme then lost a twice-delayed game due to weather to the Pittsburgh Wild Thing.
Ryan Bay scored the Xtreme’s first home run in the 5rd inning to seal the victory. Jordan Talbot earned the victory with five innings of hard pitching and was relieved by Gilroy’s Brandon Villar.
Against Wild Thing, the Xtreme led 1-0 in the first inning. But the weather turned bad and the teams were ordered back to the club houses due to lightning and thunder storms. After the second weather delay, Wild Thing took the lead and held the Xtreme to one additional run on the team’s second home run in New York, hit by Talbot. The Xtreme ultimately fell 3-2.
The Xtreme will continued pool play with two games on Monday and two more on Tuesday prior, the results of which were not available at press time. Single elimination play begins Wednesday.
