GILROY – A 4-year-old girl fell out of a second-story window Thursday evening but managed to escape serious injury.

“It’s unbelievable,” Gilroy Fire Department Capt. Paul Butler said Friday after calling San Jose Medical Center to check on the girl’s condition. “She’s going to be very lucky, I think.”

Butler, who responded to the girl’s aid just before 8 p.m., said he still did not know how the girl fell out of the window at 773 El Cerrito Way. Emergency workers did not name the girl.

A CALSTAR medical helicopter flew her to the hospital. Butler said she was in the pediatrics department – as opposed to the intensive care unit – Friday morning, under observation and complaining of abdominal pain.
