Johnson’s 726, Rozal’s 722 and Salazar’s 714 top Gilroy Bowl

GILROY – Three strikers surpassed the 700 three-game series mark to kick off the Gilroy Bowl’s 2003 fall season.
Buck Johnson (726 series, 269 high), Al Rozal (722 series, 258 high) and Jess Salazar (714 series, 270 high) highlighted the opening of league play – which began the first week of September.
Betty Maseun topped the women’s division with a 631 series and a 256 high game, while Nick McFarlan bested the junior’s division with a 493 series and a 185 high game.
Rounding out the men’s division were: Sam Munoz (651 series, 244 high); Richard Braquet (629 series, 246 high); Gary Fikse (690 series, 297 high); Ray Bravo (587 series, 246 high); Steve Boggs (595 series, 210 high); Joe Rizzuto (689 series, 246 high); Frank Campenella (628 series, 265 high); Del Corral (627 series, 234 high); and Bob Williams (667 series, 248 high).
Finishing strong in the women’s field were: Kathy Bennett (569 series, 224 high); Barbara Fahey (559 series, 208 high); Dorothy Gather (540 series, 203 high); Tracy Nelson (570 series, 233 high); Loretta Huckins (568 series, 226 high); Hiromi Sakai (529 series, 211 high); Joline Furuya (526 series, 203 high); and Cathy Baty (594 series, 230 high).
In the junior’s league, Jennifer Alexander bowled a 462 series and a 196 high game.
