GHS Boys Water Polo Opens TCAL with Win

Monterey – Gilroy’s boys’ water polo team got off to a strong start in the Tri-County Athletic League playoffs Monday by defeating Monterey 6-3 at Santa Catalina.
Austin Gubrud scored three goals, and Daniel Shields and Eric Boe also scored for the Mustangs (6-7 overall).
GHS is in action at 3:30pm Wednesday against Robert Louis Stevenson at Santa Catalina.
Girls Tennis
Salinas – Gilroy’s No. 1 and 2 singles and doubles teams were all ousted in straight sets.
Alissa Castro fell to Jenny Nguyen of North Salinas 6-2, 6-3, and Emily Castro lost to Laura Sanchez of North Salinas 6-1, 6-3. The teams of Holly Hunter-Karissa Tellez and Kim Johnson-Natalie Toews lost in doubles.
Alissa Castro did win an exhibition match against Alisal’s Alissa Clemente 8-0.
