– Assemblyman John Laird, D-Santa Cruz has introduced AB 3029,
the Food Stamp Simplification Act of 2006. It is estimated two
million Californians are currently eligible for the food stamp
program but not enrolled. AB 3029 addresses this issue by updating
the application process, simplifying the r
eporting rules and reducing required in-person visits to state
offices.

Sacramento – Assemblyman John Laird, D-Santa Cruz has introduced AB 3029, the Food Stamp Simplification Act of 2006. It is estimated two million Californians are currently eligible for the food stamp program but not enrolled. AB 3029 addresses this issue by updating the application process, simplifying the reporting rules and reducing required in-person visits to state offices.

Studies show that among those eligible for food stamps – those who lack adequate ongoing access to food – most are working families and 68 percent are children.
