Heiser-Perino
Valerie Ann Heiser of Morgan Hill and Jason Christian Perino of Gilroy will marry July 22 in Hollister. Valerie, a graduate of Live Oak High School, is the daughter of Robert Heiser of Morgan Hill and Teresa Heiser of San Jose. Jason, a graduate of Gavilan College, is the son of Richard and Patti Perino. He attended California State University, Monterey Bay. Both Valerie and Jason are employed by Best Buy; Jason is a sales manager in Gilroy and Valerie is an assistant operations supervisor in Sunnyvale.
Soares-Stoughton
Lynne Soares and Shane Stoughton were engaged Jan. 18 in Monterey. The bride-to-be attends California State University, Monterey Bay, and the groom-to-be is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Lynne is the daughter of Sharon Tranberg, Jim Smith and Paul Soares; Lynne is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Tranberg of Hollister. Shane is the son of Charlotte and John Stoughton. The couple plans to marry in August 2007.

Carrillo-Montes
Ismael Campos Montes and Leticia Marie Carrillo were married Aug. 6 at New Hope Community Church. Ismael, born and raised in Gilroy, works at Agnew’s Development Center in San Jose as a grounds keeper. Leticia, born in Hollister and raised in Gilroy, works at the Gilroy Dispatch as a customer service representative. The couple lives in Gilroy.

The Catholic Ladies Aid Society
The Catholic Ladies Aid Society celebrated its 118th birthday with a potluck luncheon March 2 at Serra Cottage. A total of 50 members and guests attended. On March 5, several members celebrated the 8:15am mass at St. Mary Church in Gilroy. Later, 60 members and family, along with the Rev. Joseph, attended a breakfast at Serra Cottage. President Bruna Goold acknowledged members present with 50 years or more of continuous membership: Francis Howson, Evelyn Godiga, Eva Holback, Bette Scarper, Lupe Sanchez and Carmen Sanchez.
The Catholic Ladies Aid Society operates a religious store at St. Mary Church and gives scholarships to St. Mary School. The society also subsidizes St. Joseph’s Family Center and Help Our Babies. Additionally, it contributes to other parish and community causes.
MILITARY
Patrick A. Alcisto
Navy Seaman Patrick A. Alcisto, son of Lirda M. Turner of Debary, Fla., and Patrick W. Alcisto of Gilroy, and his fellow shipmates made a five-day port visit to Brisbane, Australia, while assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Decatur, homeported in San Diego. The primary mission of Alcisto’s ship is to provide multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities. USS Decatur is capable of operating independently or as part of a strike group. Its flexibility provides presence with a purpose and strike power to support joint and allied forces afloat and ashore.
Alcisto is a 2000 graduate of Deltona High School of Deltona, Fla., and he joined the Navy in June 2000.
Stuart B. Morrison
Air Force Airman Stuart B. Morrison has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. Morrison is the son of Stuart A. and Cheryle L. Morrison of Cole Road, Aromas. The airman is a 2004 graduate of Monte Vista Christian High School in Watsonville.
Cynthia Springer
Cynthia Springer, daughter of Karen and Thomas Springer of Gilroy, joined the U.S. Air Force in May 2005. Cindy, a 1999 Gilroy High School graduate, left for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in November 2005 and graduated in February. She has been transferred to Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and has begun training to be an air traffic controller.
