Youth Hoop Shoot

The National Hoop Shoot sponsored by the Elks Lodge is under way at schools throughout Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill.

Boys and girls in age groups 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 are competing for the right to advance to the local final 8am Dec. 16 at Gavilan College. Winners from the local competition advance to the district event Jan. 7 in Santa Cruz.

Recreation Basketball

Gilroy – Cliff Dennett popped in 16 points Wednesday as GC Farms Inc. opened the Men’s DD League adult basketball season with a 40-36 squeaker over the Titans at Solorsano Gymnasium.

George Chiala struck for 11 points to aid the Farmers offense. GC Farms built a 16-8 halftime lead. Mike Little anchored the Titans offense with 18 points, including two three-point field goals.

Jesus Perez scored 15 points as Valerie Smith Intero defeated Handmade Healthcare 56-48 in Wednesday’s twinbill opener.

Daniel Fauss ignited the Intero first-half attack with 12 points, including two 3-pointers. Kevin Steele scored six of his 11 Intero points in the closing nine minutes. Nick Possley dominated the Handmade offense with 24 points. Brit Bigelow provided 10 points.

Headstart Nursery erased a 16-1 deficit to outlast the Tri City Warriors 60-49 in the Men’s D League opener Tuesday at Solorsano.

Greg Bozzo keyed the Headstart surge with 17 points. Scott Kjellesvig pocketed 10 of his 16 points in the Headstart second half. Vince Mitre paced the Warriors with 16 points. Jordan Ventura nailed two 3-pointers in a 14-point effort.

William Shaw scored 18 points to lead the Money Makers past Pizza N’ Stuff 72-52.

Joseph Abundiz recorded 12 points, Daryl Baladad nine for the Money Makers. Mark Cisneros struck for 15 points, Jose Mendoza 12 for Pizza N’ Stuff.

Morgan Hill Garage Door earned a forfeit win over Anritsu.
