Dear Editor,

My view is that we as a community should do a few things. Fixing the signal light at Church and Tenth streets is obvious, but the charges for the helicopter/services are just crazy. Why can’t we have a community fund that directs our taxes pay for this type of thing. We do it for roads, levee, schools – what about the living, breathing families who suffer tragedies? Why are we not taking care of our own?

I am proud to be a resident of Gilroy and am a California native, however we let our dollars be spent on a three-day Garlic Festival with the proceeds going to the community. Well, here is a perfect spot – not just Brayan’s family, but all that go through this type of situation.

Let’s take care of us.
